Values

Are your values adding value to your life or to the lives of others?

Last week, we talked about putting your fears on trial, perhaps we should do the same with our values? If our values are what we consider right or wrong, we should question WHY we value what we do.  Perhaps, some of us are holding on to values that are counterproductive to what we really think and feel.  Have you ever felt conflicted? Do you value comfort over growth? Complacency over truth?

The older I get, the more those pesky convictions are bubbling to the surface.  I have had to question whether I value the need to be liked and complacent over my own internal drive for truth and justice.  It may be scary to step outside of your comfort zone but if you really hone in on what you value, you can start taking those steps to truly walking out your values.

If you look at your life, will the things to which you are giving your time and energy reflect your values?  Do you want or need to make a change? Good news!  You can!  What fires you up? When you look back on your life, what will you be known for, and what will you have passed on to future generations?  If you’re not feeling good about those answers, your values may need to be examined.

It may feel risky, but what if you peeled back the layers on your values?  Really ask yourself why you value what you do. You will either walk away with a stronger conviction or maybe, just maybe, you may start to see the world through another lens.
